Impromptu Pasta
We get in a rut. Husband and I sit in the house weekend and week out – together, enjoying cable TV. So, every now and then, it’s fun to invite other people over for fellowship.
Now of course I can’t do that without feeding them. Even when I try, I’m never successful at just collecting store bought food. I always end up cooking.
On a recent Friday night, we decided it was about time for a little get together. We called around and managed to get two couples to confirm. I would make spaghetti. It’s so simple for a last-minute get together and the ingredients are easy to find and affordable.
As I perused the pasta aisle it struck me to do a variety of pasta. One red sauce, one white sauce and two types of noodles. I choose angel hair and the multicolored corkscrew or “rotini” noodles. Then I made a red meat sauce and a white vegetable sauce. The guests were pleased and it gave them options.
Ingredients
Two types of noodles
Ground meat (beef, turkey or chicken)
Red Pepper
Green Pepper
Onion
4 Serving Dishes
1. In two separate pots boil your pasta selections.
White Sauce
1. Saute bell peppers, onions, mushrooms in a pan
2. Add pre-made alfredo sauce and simmer
Red Sauce
1. Cook ground meat with green peppers, onions and seasonings
2. Add pre-made spaghetti sauce and simmer
Set noodles out in separate bowls and allow guests to create their own combinations from the buffet.
