Hairy Situations
Soooo a few weeks ago, we had a the most wonderful weekend. I mean it was PACKED with ideal summertime activity. There were swimsuits, grills and ice cream.
It all began on Saturday morning at the a water park. Me and the girls put on our bathing suits, packed our sunscreen, towels and snacks and headed off for some fun in the sun along with our a group of friends. We were a splishing and a splashing.
Floating and a sliding.
This was truly hot fun in the summer time.
But, you know…
It’s all fun and games until I was reminded by the oldest.
“When we get home we need some ‘hair time!'”
It’s the last two words. She said them in the same sing songy way I always say it to them to make light of a kinky situation. To get them excited about the detangling and the pulling and the time spent away from any other more enjoyable activities.
Each one has to be in “time out” for tresses while I toil over their heads. But it’s quadrupled for me. Yes, me! I’m outnumbered. I have 3 daughters and my own hair to wrestle with.
Instead of a lazy afternoon napping. I spent hours. HOURS. Doing hair. And it felt like a musical chairs. I washed my own first, while I was in the shower. Afterward, I put the Toddler in the tub and while she played with her bath toys, I detangled my hair and divided it into sections for easier blow drying later.
Meanwhile, the teenager was in the shower washing her own hair, I asked the Tween to get the Toddler dressed while blow dried my own.
I can’t remember the order of the rest but there was shuffling and shampooing…I really needed that nap by the time it was all over.
It is exhausting, but there are perks. These are some of the best moments I have with them. Who ever is in the hot seat is always surrounded by the other two, we crack jokes and giggle and they share stories about their classmates and friends.
I guess hair time is something to sing about.
