Homemade Applesauce
I think everything is better from scratch. I know, I know it’s more time consuming but um…I’d argue it’s worth the wait and the effort. This applesauce is superb. It tastes nothing at all like the store bought kind. It doesn’t even look the same. Making my own has me wondering what they’ve done to the apples in the store version. What have they done!? The flavor is incredibly rich. Apples have never tasted so good. And it’s actually rather simple to prepare. In fact, it was so easy, I’ve decided I won’t be buying the packaged versions any more. Mushroom Tart
They were on sale, the shiitakes. The baby bellas were too. I had to buy them, two pints of mushrooms. The problem is…I’m alone in my affection for mushrooms around here. This left me with a lot of mushrooms and not even a little bit of help eating them. I figured I should figure something out. And I did: Pinterest. That’s where I saw a multitude of recipes but the pastries inspired me so here’s what I came up with. Garlicky Green Beans
Why does something so wrong feel so right? I’m talking about eating garlic here, ya’ll. It’s something we all enjoy. That tangy punch of flavor is just so good when it hits your tongue. But it is also the worst stench to have lingering on your breath. That’s not going to stop me, though. I put it in almost everything I cook. It livens these dishes right on up!
