    Grateful Day 10: Good Health

      I saw my optometrist and my dentist this week. It was time for my routine checkups. I’ll see my general practitioner after the new year for the same reason. And I’m blessed that these are just routine checkups and nothing is wrong. Yesterday, I had a long talk with a coworker whose husband has been battling cancer for some years now. He has good days.     Grateful: Day 9, The Miracle of Breastmilk

    I’m thankful for tiny miracles. They surround us everyday, going practically unnoticed. For instance, the way the sun continues to rise each morning and spread its life-giving warmth over every person and living thing on the earth. Now that I’m back to work, I wake up every morning to prepare my baby’s bottles for the day. I get this sense of pride and amazement when I think that I made this milk.     Grateful: Day 8, Bedtime

    As a child, I remember crying when my mother sent me to bed and longing to stay awake late into the night. Sometimes, I’d sneak into the hallway and peek into the living room to see Arsenio Hall. I was so young, so foolish. Nowadays, I’m usually counting down the hours until I can get to sleep. And as the mother to small children, bedtime is a glorious time of day.
